In celebration of #BeyDay, here’s a list of my top 10 fav songs from the Queen:
10. That’s How U Like It (feat. Jay-Z)
As we move through this list, you’ll see that a lot of my fav Bey songs are the ones where she makes uses her music to make statements about her personal life. This was one of the first songs where she professed her love for Mr. Carter.
9. Roc
It’s an unrealeased track, but I’m always singing it in the shower. I love the way it has multiple meanings (i.e. Rock vs. ROC-afella)
8. Flawless Remix (feat. Nicki Minaj)
This was the first song she dropped after the elevator incident and she had no problem bringing the situation in the song. It wa a drop mic moment, where she made the world stop….stfu up and carry on.
7. Dangerously In Love 2
This was one of the first ballads she released so it will always be near and dear to my heart. I love when Bey shows us that she has the vocals and can out-sing your fav effortlessly.
6. Work It Out
I was so excited and proud when Bey landed a role as Foxxy Cleopatra in Goldmember. Some say her acting skills weren’t great, but I think she did good in that movie. And that video was hot!!!
5. Bow Down / I Been On
Real Beyhive members know that our Queen has a potty mouth. I’m glad she stopped giving a f*** and told these h**s to bow down, B****!
4. Upgrade U (feat. Jay-Z)
I like this one because the story is true to life. Both Jay and Bey would be an upgrade from anybody else in the world who tries to get with them.
Fav Line = It’s that little glimpse of light that makes THE DIAMOND really shine.
3. Sorry
I remember my heart beating when I first heard this song. I thought our fav couple was splitting for good. I’m glad they’re still together. But it DID end up becoming an anthem to throw up the peace sign to anyone who doesn’t treat us right in relationships. Boy, bye!
2. Dance 4 U
I never in a million years thought Bey would release a song/visual that was so sexual, but she finally got out of her comfort zone and I am all here for it.
1. Halo
This is the song I want Bey to sing at my funeral. Is it weird that I’m already planning it out?? Lol
Honorable Mention: Schoolin’ Life
I’ve heard Bey say that this was the Beyhive’s fav song, so I haaaaaaaaad to include it. People try to say she can’t speak and that she’s dumb, but this song proves that she doesn’t need a degree to show that she’s smart enough to get through this thing called life….and she can school YOU while she’s at it.
