Jay Z Reffered as “Ex-Crack Dealer” in New York Post
After a meeting with New York city Governor Andrew Cuomo, Jay Z labeled an “ex-crack dealer” in headlines from Fox News and the New York Post.
Jay Z reportedly met with Cuomo to discuss reviewing the criminal justice system in the wake of the grand jury’s decision not to indict a police officer responsible for the choking death of Eric Garner. A spokesperson for Governor Cuomo addressed the meeting between the two in a statement released last week.
“Gov. Cuomo and Shawn ‘JAY Z’ Carter had a productive conversation about doing a top to bottom review of the criminal justice system and how we can all work together to pass a reform package that ensures equality in the eyes of the law…”
Fox News also referenced Jay Z’s drug dealing past in the headline for their story about the rapper’s meeting with the Governor. Neither Fox News nor the New York Post has apologized for their headlines.
In addition to Jay Z, Russell Simmons has also reportedly met with New York politicians to discuss matters concerning police brutality.
