The always innovative member of the Wu-Tang Clan will resurrect some familiar child-hood sounds for his next music project.
The Wu-Tang member and movie director is partnering up with Atari to produce an album made up entirely of video game sounds. “I’m so excited to work on these iconic games to deliver what I believe will be one of my best albums,” RZA said in a statement to Billboard. “I am going to invite some of my friends to join me and it will be Game On with the first beat!”
This isn’t the first time working with the iconic company. He did voice-over work in 2006 on the graffiti-centered video game Mark Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure.
“We are thrilled to partner with RZA, one of the greatest hip-hop producers of all time,” said Atari CEO Fred Chesnais to Billboard. “RZA is a multi-talented artist and soundtrack virtuoso and we cannot wait to hear the new tracks he creates based on Atari’s iconic video game sounds and music.”
RZA has teamed with Atari’s in-house producers Chesnais and Stephen Belafonte for this new album. We will update you on the latest news about RZA’s new project here at Boom92Houston.com
