Singer and songwriter RL, also known as a third of the R&B group NEXT,–sat down with Ed Lover and Monie Love to talk about the whirlwind of experiences he’s had working in the industry in the years between the group’s split and their present day reuniting. He details the complexities that have come with writing hit records for R&B singers.


He reveals what he thinks happened to the 90s R&B group Ideal after their popular song “Whatever,” featuring Lil Mo, which he penned. He also opens up about why he felt some type of way about Jaheim after writing his popular hit songs “Just In Case,” and “Anything.” Plus, he addresses some of the issues NEXT had as a group, and what made him decide to come back and join forces to become a trio again.
